If only somebody could tell senator Dino Melaye this

Editor’s note: Senator Dino Melaye and his colleague, Remi Tinubu, the wife of the controversial national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) engaged in a war of words on the floor of the upper legislative chamber.

Tinubu had blamed Melaye for assaulting her verbally while the senator denied the allegation, making counter-claims that the female lawmaker also assaulted him verbally.

A good name is better than silver and gold. There is nothing rewarding in being tagged controversial.
With this unbridled attitude, the world will always see your stand and reaction to issues as inconsequential. Even where you have a good point or genuine defence, people will rarely give you the benefit of the doubt. Whenever you react to issues, the world will scream “our senator has gone mad again”.
Remember always that nobody is worth dying for in Nigerian politics. That fellow in the senate that you are fighting tooth and nail to protect can someday sacrifice you to get some respite.
To the issue between you and your senator-colleague, senator Oluremi Tinubu. It was reported that before your infamous reaction, she had addressed you as always being childish and acting like a thug. Another report also had it that she even called you a dog!
A father addressed as being childish? A senator called a thug? A husband tagged a dog?
But today, senator, nobody vilifies or condemns Mrs Tinubu for using such foul languages on you right on the floor of the national assembly. Your reaction to BEAT her and IMPREGNATE her…. now enjoy widespread condemnation everywhere. It is uncultured to threaten someone else’s wife but approved to insult someone’s husband and father. This is because of your antecedents. People never see you as one who should be protected too.
The name senator Dino seems not to enjoy any sympathy. Even your ex-wife, we learnt has nothing good to say about the times you spent together.
My distinguished senator Melaye, am sorry for being this blunt, who am I to condemn you when am not perfect myself? Besides, my own state governor too is also same of the same if not more controversial. But just embrace my message, you can choose to disregard me the medium. A bloody private school teacher!
