A 39-year-old man, Jahswill Osondu, was on Thursday docked at a
Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing a car
and goods valued at N2.6million belonging to his employer, Bluseal
Communications Management.
Osondu, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to a
three-count charge of malicious breach of contract, intent to defraud
and stealing.
According to the prosecutor, Wcpl. Anthonia Osanyade, the accused
committed the offences at No. 1B, Bode Thomas St., Surulere, Lagos
State, sometime in July 2015.
Osanyade said that the accused, a staff member of Bluseal
Communication Management, did break the contract he had with the company
by failing to show up at work for seven months without notice.
“The accused with intent to defraud the company did take away and
converted a Toyota Corrola saloon car with registration number: LSR-439
CJ; to his personal use, which was not authorised by the management,’’
she said.
She said that Osondu stole one Toyota Corrola saloon car with the
above registration number valued N2,413,000, one white and black HP
printer worth N28,000, one pro-book laptop valued N138,000, one Etisalat
WiFi worth N13,000 and one Smile WiFi valued N16,000, totaling
N2,608,000.
The prosecutor noted that the offences contravened Sections
210(3)(B), 332(1) and 285(8)of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The chief magistrate, Mrs A. Ipaye-Nwachukwu, granted the accused
bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the
case till April 19 for further hearing. (NAN)
