Violence in Rivers: 8 killed during weekend

Eight persons were reportedly killed over the weekend by some hoodlums in Yeghe, Gokana Local government areas, and other parts of Rivers State.
It could be recalled that almost 30 people were killed with four of them beheaded in Omoku, Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local government area of the state earlier in the month of February.
In the weekend attack, a victim simply identified as Chika was shot dead by suspected assassins at his resident in Ozuaha community in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

 DAILY POST gathered that Chika, who is a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Ozuaha ward eleven in Ikwerre Local Government was shot dead by men on police uniform, suspected to be assassins.
A source who confirmed the incident alleged that the suspected armed men invaded Chika’s residence and riddled his body with bullets.
Similarly, 4 people were killed in Ahaoda-East over suspected cult clashes.
In the same vein, there are reports that 3 people have been killed in Andoni Local government, where the Deputy National Chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus and the State Chairman of the APC, Davies Ibyiamu-Ikeanya hail from.
The incident which has been confirmed by the Chairman of Andoni LGA, Victor Ere occurred at Yangala community, are as a result of cult clashes.
In the meantime, the LGA Chairman, Ere has placed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Andoni until further notice.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike last week called for an emergency meeting with security Chiefs over the upsurge of violence, armed robbery attacks and kidnappings in the state
