Former Celtic player Evander Sno accused of attempted manslaughter in Holland

Former Celtic player Evander Sno is at the centre of a stunning development in his native Holland where he's suspected of attempted manslaughter.
The 28-year-old Dutch footballer will appear in court next week, March 9, along with two relatives, concerning a vicious attack in Amsterdam in 2013 in which the two victims were allegedly kicked in the head.
The one time Parkhead midfielder insisted that the alleged claims of attempted manslaughter and aggravated assault are 'exaggerated.' Sno has publicly denied the allegations, insisting he had tried to break up the fight and was not involved in the attack.

The Amsterdam Public Prosecution claims that the two victims were badly beaten in the incident on August 11, 2013, with several blows and kicks to the head as they lay on the ground.
The Prosecution considers the treatment of one of the victims so serious that the three suspects - Sno and his relatives Kenneth and Petro - are accused of attempted manslaughter.
Sno, who spent two years at Celtic between 2006 and 2008, responded to the alleged accusations on Monday

'Attempted manslaughter is greatly exaggerated,' he told Dutch newspaper AD. 'They make it really much larger and heavier than it was. There was a scuffle involving acquaintances who were with me.
'I said 'Hey boys, this is not necessary,' then I was hit so I defended myself. But, I've certainly didn't kicked anyone as they lay on the ground.
'I don't know the victims, I do not even know what that quarrel was about. They made it a big issue because I'm a football player. They call it already attempted manslaughter. But I have not even kicked when they were on the ground.'
Sno was signed for Celtic by Gordon Strachan in June 2006 from Feyenoord and he won two Scottish titles at Parkhead before moving back home to join Ajax in August 2008.
However, the man who was named after boxer Evander Holyfield his career has been plagued by serious health issues, suffering two cardiac arrests while playing. Once for Ajax reserves in 2010 and then for NEC Nijmegen in 2012.
That background meant clubs were unwilling to take the risk on Sno's health and he has has bounced around five clubs in the last five years since leaving Ajax, with two spells at RKC Waalwijk, NEC, Belgian side Westerlo and is currently a free agent after leaving ADO Den Haag.
