An Ebute-metta Chief Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, today, May 27 ordered the remand of an alleged Mushin gang leader, Wasiu Akinwande, 35, a.k.a. Olori Eso’, at Ikoyi prison.
The remand order of the court presided over by Magistrate M. O. Ope-Agbe (Miss), was sequel to an application brought before the court by men of State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID), of Lagos state police command, Panti-Yaba.
In the remand application which was brought pursuant to section 264 (1) and (2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos state, 2011, the prosecutor, Sergeant Jimah Ishegele, informed the court that was for the Directorate of Public Prosecutions to issued advice on the alleged offences against the accused.
In the charge sheet attached with the remand application, the gang leader with others now at large, who was arrested by the anti-robbery section of SCIID, allegedly killed Segun Oladuduye, and Adebiyi Kolade with guns, and kidnapped one a 17 year-old Akanmu Yusuf, after blindfolding him and kept him for several days in an uncompleted building.

The police also alleged that he was arrested with two AK-47, and four live cartridges which he was not licensed to have.He was alleged to have committed the offences on January 12, 2016, at about 02.20 am, at Mushin area of Lagos state.
The offences according to the prosecutor, Ishegele, are punishable under sections 231, 221, 409 228(1), 269(1) of the criminal law s of Lagos state of Nigeria, 2011, and section 27(b)(11) of the Firearms Act Cap F28, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
Upon the argument of the remand application by the prosecutor, the presiding Magistrate, M. O. Ope-Agbe, ordered the remand of the alleged gang leader at Ikoyi Prisons, pending when the DPP will issue an advice on the matter.
Ope-Agbe while adjourned the matter till June 27, also ordered the police to duplicate the case file and forward same to DPP.
