The free medical community outreach was flagged-off yesterday at the palace of Ubandoman Gwandu, Alh. Halidu Saadu in Birnin Kebbi and attended by large number of community members, NACA and SACA officials.
The representative
of NACA, Mr. Peter Igina , an assistant director with NACA, explained
that the purpose of the programme was to reach out to many people who
could not afford to know their health status in hospitals due to lack of
money.
According to him
the theme of the programme is " Getting To Zero " and is aimed at
providing free medical services to people on HIV/AIDS, hepatitis
screening, and free drugs. "The aim is to reach out to people especially
those who could not afford to know their health status, to address the
health challenges due to poverty".
In his remarks at
the programme , the state executive director of the State Agency for the
Control of AIDS ( SACA) Alh. Abdullahi Bubuce, stressed the need for
people to use the opportunity to know their health status in view of its
importance.
The Ubandoman
Gwandu , Alh. Halidu Saadu who is one of the senior counsellors to the
Emir of Gwandu thanked both Hon. Faruk and NACA for reaching out to his
community and urged people to avail themselves of the opportunity to get
free medical services.
