Leonardo DiCaprio Opens Up About Meeting The Pope: What Did They Talk About?

The feelings are mutual! Leonardo DiCaprio opened up about his recent visit with the Pope while at the 2016 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Saturday, January 30, telling reporters that he was inspired by speaking to the religious leader.



When asked what the pair talked about during their meeting at The Vatican on Thursday, January 28, DiCaprio explained that they both had the environment on their minds.


DiCaprio, 41, has been an outspoken advocate for environmental issues, and revealed that he is currently=
“We shot [The Revenant] in Calgary, and weather conditions were unprecedented — fluctuations from hot to cold,” he said. “The locals had told us they had never had a weather experience like that since they’ve lived there, and we realized that 2015 was the hottest year in recorded history. … It’s absolutely, absolutely terrifying. I hope I’ll be able to complete this documentary in the next few months and show people my journey…”
DiCaprio earned an Oscar nomination for his turn as Hugh Glass in this year’s hit The Revenant, and took home his first-ever SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role on Saturday.
His Titanic and Revolutionary Road costar Kate Winslet couldn’t help gushing about his success while on the red carpet.
“I was shocked!” she said of winning the Golden Globe for her supporting role in Steve Jobs earlier this year. “To be honest with you, [it was] because I’ve been so focused on Leo and him winning everything and being so excited for him.”
