Former Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are enmeshed in fresh controversy over the N20 million the federation said it paid to him (Oliseh) less than 48 hours before he resigned his job as the national team coach.
On Friday, the NFF stated that it paid the sum of N20 million to the former Eagles captain on Wednesday, being his salaries for three months (December 2015, January 2016 and February 2016) and a year’s rent (half-year rent) for July- December 2015; and the coach tendered his resignation on Friday.

Oliseh’s resignation shocks NFF

Ademola Olajire, an Assistant Director of Communications in the Nigeria Football Federation, on Saturday said the resignation of the Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, surprised the body.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the former Eagles gaffer resigned his appointment on Thursday via his Twitter handle, citing contract violations, unpaid wages and benefits to players and assistant coaches.
Subsequently, the NFF announced the former coach of the Super Eagles Samson Siasia as interim manager in his place.

African health ministers pledge improved access to vaccines

African health ministers, political leaders and technical experts have pledged to ensure improved access to vaccines to reduce child mortality, morbidity and disability in the continent.
They also pledged to keep immunisation at the forefront of efforts to reduce child killer-diseases.
The decisions were taken at the maiden Ministerial Conference on Immunisation in Africa, which ended in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Thursday.

Banks pay N6.2tn via 13.5 million cheques

A total of 13.46 million cheques worth N6.19tn were processed by the banking sector in the 2015 fiscal period, figures obtained from the Nigerian Interbank Settlement System have revealed.
The NIBSS was set up by the Central Bank of Nigeria and licensed commercial banks and discount houses in 1993 to help streamline inter-bank payments and settlement mechanisms and promote electronic payments in the country.
